The Broadoak nature reserve in Connah’s Quay was unfortunately impacted by Storm Christoph in January 2021.

Flood water from the brook, which travels through the site, damaged one of the bridges which was recently installed through Groundwork North Wales’s Connahs Quay Access project funded thrugh the Landfill Disposal Tax adminstered by WCVA. The volume of water removed several metres of bank and also impacted neighbouring Flintshire County Council’s bridges accessing their Llwyni Quiet Site.

Unfortunately the path remains closed whilst repair works are planned. We have worked with Flintshire County Council to put in place an official diversion as pictured, which means the sites can still be accessed and enjoyed.
