Thanks to funding from Hubbub and in conjunction with the Community Fridge at Refurbs Flint we will be hosting a range of cooking workshops and community meals
at Caffi Cyfle in Buckley, demonstrating to the local community what can be made using waste and surplus food.
With the cost-of-living crisis and with loneliness and mental well-being having been impacted by the recent pandemic, the cooking workshops and community meals aim to support our local community through;
- offering increased financial resilience through maximising the food they have and reducing waste.
- reducing loneliness amongst more isolated members of the community.
- generating further support and donations from local people and food businesses for our Community Fridge in Refurbs Flint
The cooking workshops will cover topics such as cooking on a budget and slow cooker recipe, making soup, stocks and sauces, from fruit and vegetables past their best and vegetable scraps and cooking with leftovers. These sessions will allow participants to learn new skills and to save money while maximising the food they have and reducing waste.
The community meals at Caffi Cyfle will be produced using surplus and waste food, and are available to people who feel socially isolated with the aim of reducing loneliness and promoting the benefits of using waste food.
