In October 2022 Groundwork North Wales was
awarded the prize for Environmental Social Enterprise, with Karen Balmer CEO scooping the Women in Social Business award for overseeing the organisation's development into one of the UK's top-performing social enterprises at the ninth annual Social Business Awards Wales, hosted by Cwmpas (Groundwork North Wales were also a finalist in the Social Enterprise of the Year and Prove It category).
As winners Groundwork North Wales and Karen Balmer now go on to represent Wales in the Social Enterprise UK Awards, hosted next week on Dec 8th, at London’s iconic Roundhouse. The UK Social Enterprise Awards are the country’s biggest celebration of social enterprises recognising the best in the sector. They are a chance to showcase the incredible contributions made by businesses that have been making a real difference in tackling social and environmental problems both in the UK and around the world.
