Groundwork North Wales are delighted to announce they have been shortlisted for the Third Sector Employer Award in the Investors in People Awards 2024, with team member Aaron Jones shortlisted for the Community Employee of the Year Award.
The Investors in People Awards celebrate individual and organisational successes from all over the world, shining a light on the achievements of those who are striving to Make Work Better. The winners in each of the categories will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on 13th November 2024.
Groundwork North Wales delivers positive impacts for People, Places and Planet, aiming to tackle pressing issues such as climate change, the cost-of-living crisis, and wellbeing challenges faced by disadvantaged members of society.
Over the past year the charity has refreshed its Organisational Values, with a working group of staff representatives drawing together a new set of values to reflect the organisation and its people, which was reflected in the organisation’s entry into the awards. The organisation has also expanded and developed its range of projects to benefit more people, with Aaron Jones being recognised for his role in taking forward the ‘Wood Shed’ project.
Commenting on being recognised for these achievements, Karen Balmer, Groundwork North Wales CEO said,

The Wood Shed project takes place at Refurbs Flint. The project aims to provide support to the individuals who attend where needed. Motivating them and providing emotional and mental well-being support.
Wood Shed offers a welcoming friendly environment, giving unemployed and retired individuals and individuals with alternative needs an opportunity to come together, learn new skills and practice old ones in a relaxed, welcoming, and friendly environment. Activities include repairing furniture, creating small wooden craft pieces such as planters and bird boxes for resale and joining in various ‘expert’ workshops.
