Thanks to funding from the Restart Project, Refurbs hosted a Repair Festival on Saturday 24th October, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, in celebration of International Repair Day.

Since 2021, Refurbs have held regular Saturday Repair Sessions, thanks to funding from Enfinium and in collaboration with Repair Café Wales.

The Repair Festival brought together volunteers with a range of practical skills to help local people repair their broken or damaged items. From kettles and lamps to chairs and other household items, the event showcased how repairing and reusing items can help reduce waste and give things a new lease of life.

Attendees will be able to book a space to bring along an item for repair. There is no set charge for the service; we simply ask for a donation to help support the continuation of repair activities.

As part of this year’s festival, Refurbs also hosted an upcycling crafts session, led by Groundwork Training. Attendees had the opportunity to create their own lavender heart using recycled materials. The session provided a fun, creative way to explore reuse and upcycling, with participants able to keep their finished lavender heart home with them.

The Repair Festival has been a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together, learn new skills and discover how small repairs and creative reuse can make a difference in reducing waste.

A big thank you to the Restart Project for making this possible!
