Lend & Mend is a community-focused service where local residents can borrow items for a minimal cost and access a repair space to fix household goods for free, as well as take part in workshops. This role is responsible for the overall management and development of the Lend & Mend service, ensuring its smooth day-to-day operation.

Salary:

£15,517 (£26,450 pro-rata)

Purpose of the job:

Lend & Mend, is a place where local residents can borrow items for a small fee, and a repair space, where local residents can get household items fixed for free as well as attend repair workshops.

The Manager will lead and support staff and volunteers, oversee repairs and retail activity, maintain high standards of customer service and safety, and drive the project’s mission of sustainability, waste reduction, and community engagement.

The purpose of Lend & Mend is:

  • Waste Reduction – Repair Cafes help household items be used for longer rather than throwing them away. This reduces the volume of raw materials and energy needed to make new products. It cuts CO2 emissions by reusing instead of manufacturing new products.
  • Sharing Skills - By promoting a repairing culture and inviting each one of our visitors to sit with a volunteer repairer, repair cafés show appreciation for the people who have practical knowledge and ensure these valuable skills are getting passed on.

To provide access affordable borrowing of things they need but don't own, saving money and space in their homes.
