The Tesco Fruit & Veg Grant marks an exciting new chapter for Tesco and Groundwork UK, creating new opportunities to support projects that help communities grow, access fresh produce and enjoy the benefits of greener spaces. We’re looking forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will for children and young people across the country.

As we approach the close of the December 2026 - March 2027 application window, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has applied. We’re incredibly grateful for your patience, enthusiasm and support as we introduce this exciting new grant.

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Harlow Meadow Orchard Group, based in Porthmadog, who received funding through our Tesco Stronger Starts grant scheme between January - March 2025, demonstrating how projects that transform outdoor spaces can make a real difference to local communities.

The project aims to turn previously unused space into an attractive meadow orchard and welcoming community garden, creating a greener environment for people to enjoy while helping young fruit trees and plants flourish.

Thanks to the grant, the project has been able to purchase tree stakes and ties to support its young fruit trees, alongside peat-free topsoil and loam to fill raised beds. These beds have since been planted with kniphofia, catmint and lavender, bringing colour and variety to the space.

The result is a once-unused area that is being transformed into a beautiful and welcoming garden for the community.

Projects that encourage growing, improve green spaces and help children and communities connect with fruit and vegetables are all worth exploring as you consider your application.

It’s wonderful to see how grant funding can help communities breathe new life into underused spaces, creating greener, more attractive environments for everyone to enjoy.

The Tesco Fruit & Veg Grants Programme is now accepting applications for 2027 projects across North and Mid Wales. Grants support projects that improve children's access to free fruit and vegetables, including healthy meal and snack schemes, holiday hunger initiatives, foodbanks, community growing projects and healthy eating programmes for families.
