Ysgol Rhostyllen, Wrexham, has recently benefitted from funding to enhance the health and wellbeing of its pupils through the Tesco Fruit & Veg Grants programme.
The school won £1,500 in funding from the grant, awarded between July and September 2025, to upgrade their outdoor and sports resources, helping to promote active lifestyles, support pupils' physical and mental wellbeing and encourage greater community engagement.
Projects like this show how the funding can help local schools and community organisations make a positive difference for children and families.
The programme provides grants to projects that improve children's access to free fruit and vegetables. This can include healthy meal and snack schemes, holiday hunger initiatives, foodbanks, community growing projects and healthy eating programmes for families. Sports clubs, community groups and other projects can apply, as long as they include providing healthy snacks or fruit and vegetables as part of their activities.
The Tesco Fruit & Veg Grants Programme is now accepting applications for 2027 projects across North and Mid Wales. Grants support projects that improve children's access to free fruit and vegetables, including healthy meal and snack schemes, holiday hunger initiatives, foodbanks, community growing projects and healthy eating programmes for families.
