Basic Amphibian Course – Saturday 23 March 2019, Buckley North Wales
This course covers basic ecology and identification of amphibians including newts, frogs, and toads. The afternoon will consist of indoor workshops and talks to give a grounding in identifying amphibians and to highlight their habitat requirements, good conservation practice and biosecurity. The evening sessions will provide demonstrations and practice of survey techniques and identification of amphibians in the dark.
Participants will need to bring small torches/head torches with them, and wellies (which will need to have been cleaned of all mud and debris for biosecurity reasons). High powered torches will be provided for the survey (if you have your own 1 million candle-power torch e.g. CB2, please bring it along).
Refreshments of tea and coffee will be provided but please bring snacks/drinks and a packed evening meal and wear warm clothing; this is essential as the temperature on the reserve is lower than average.
