Level 1 Fire Safety Awareness

This course is designed for all employees as an introduction to fire awareness and is a great part of induction programmes for new employees. Participants will learn how fires can occur and what to do in the event of a fire. This qualification is a foundation for those who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace (e.g. fire wardens, stewards etc).
Syllabus
The subjects covered on this course includes:
- The common causes of fire
- The behaviour of fire
- Legislation (brief) and responsibilities
- Fire Prevention
- What to do if a fire breaks out
- How to use fire extinguishers
- Emergency evacuation procedures
Duration
A minimum of 4 contact hours in a classroom.
Numbers
A maximum of 16 learners can be accommodated on this course.
Certification
A level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness (RQF) will be issued upon successful assessment. This qualification does not have an expiry date. It’s recommended that learners attend refresh courses to keep up to date with change in policies and procedures.
