Aaron our Senior Youth Training Coordinator was working with one of the Next Step programmes last week.

They had a campfire cooking session with a group of young people we have been working with as part of our BBC Children in Need small grant.

The children have been attending sessions with us every Thursday evening for the last 2 months during which time they have been learning new skills, improving their confidence, trying new things, making new friends and just generally having lots of fun!!

The group have come to us from the Dynamic Futures project  who's aim is to support and guide disabled young people between the ages of 14-25

The group have been attending on a Thursday evening for the last 2 months during which time they have been learning new skills, improving their confidence, trying new things, making new friends and just generally having lots of fun!! The group have come to us from the Dynamic Futures project (Which is part of Dynamic, based in Wrexham) whos aim is to support and guide disabled young people between the ages of 14-25 who are not in receipt of a transition service, i.e. no other service offering support, help or advice in relation to opportunities for the disabled young person’s future.

During the session the group worked together getting the fire ready and preparing the food to produce a culinary delight of campfire Pasta, Meatballs and Cheese. They also worked in smaller groups where they had group campfires on which they made and cooked their own campfire Garlic bread to go along with the Pasta & meatball dish. The food went down a treat, so much so that some young people even came back for seconds.

Once everyone had a belly full of food the group were nice and chilled around the campfire and everyone had a great time just sharing stories or taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the area.
