We are looking for a Part-time Volunteer Officer

Volunteer Officer
Location: Wild Ground’s office and as required at site
15 hours per week
Salary: £7,880 (£19,700 FTE): funded until 31st March 2020

Wild Ground’s main conservation focus is the protection of a European Protected Species – the great crested newt. Wild Ground manages a number of sites, most of which are Special Areas of Conservation (SAC), for the conservation of the species. The charity owns 12 sites, and a further 3 are managed on behalf of their owners. Wild Ground aims to increase the number of vulnerable groups we work with, providing tasks at a low-level engagement to support the development of confidence and self-esteem through supported volunteer experience.

Working alongside the Reserves Officers/Reserves Development Manager, the postholder will support with leading larger groups of volunteers on any of these sites as required on practical management tasks. The role will involve assisting with recruitment and induction of vulnerable volunteers and supervising and supporting groups to deliver a range of tasks on reserves. The post holder will be a dynamic, outgoing individual, with proven experience of working with volunteers and vulnerable people, who is also an excellent communicator with good people skills and able to establish good working relations with communities and individuals.
