The Great Big Green Week from 7th to 15th June sees millions of people come together to be a part of a wave of actions for climate and nature. The campaign, led by the Climate Coalition, highlights how we can all make swaps, no matter the size, to change the system and make our communities better.

Over the course of this week, Lend & Mend are holding various events to encourage the local community to upcycle and repair broken items, rather than letting them go to waste.

Upcycling Workshops

Turn everyday items into unique, functional pieces or bring in broken / unwanted items to transform under expert guidance. Whether it’s reimagining old furniture, customising clothing, or finding new uses for household items, participants will gain hands-on skills that promote sustainability and creativity.

Reuse Materials

Groundwork Training, who will be running a number of the upcycling workshops, are calling for the local community to donate unwanted items that can be upcycled for various crafts. This includes paper and print materials, fabric and textiles, containers and craft bases, natural and found objects, and jewellery materials. If you have any of these items that you no longer need, please drop them at Lend & Mend at Ty Pawb, Wrexham.

Repair Session

These free, hands-on sessions are a key part of Lend & Mend’s mission to support Wrexham residents to save money, reduce waste, and build community through shared knowledge and sustainable practices. Whether you are fixing a broken toaster, mending a torn jacket, or breathing new life into an old piece of clothing Lend & Mend can help.

Refurbs Flint

With showrooms offering second-hand furniture at affordable prices, Refurbs is committed to environmental responsibility and social impact. Instead of buying new, why not play your part in Great Big Green Week and browse preloved treasures instead. Help stop good quality furniture from ending up in landfill sites.

Roger Cleverley, Lend & Mend Manager, said:

“Great Big Green Week is about showing that every action counts. At Lend & Mend, we believe that repairing, reusing, and sharing knowledge isn’t just good for the planet, it also brings people together. We’re excited to see the community come out and get involved.”

All events are free to attend, and everyone is welcome whether you are a seasoned DIYer or just curios to learn more about sustainable living.
