We are excited to share the following on behalf of the 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership that we host here at Groundwork North Wales.

The 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership proudly presents Hiraeth: Art, Heritage and Railways, an inspiring exhibition that marks the culmination of months of collaboration, creativity and storytelling.
Event - Tuesday 26th February 2025 Miners Rescue Station, Wrexham 2 PM - 4 PM FREE Entry
The unique project has been funded by Transport for Wales through the 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership. The project, led by artist Sophia Leadill and delivered in partnership with KIM Inspire, The Wallich and Housing Justice, brings together art, history and personal narratives to celebrate the cultural richness of our communities.
The exhibition will showcase a vibrant collection of artwork, oral histories and written pieces inspired by the heritage of the railways and the lived experiences of those involved. This event forms part of Railway 200, commemorating 200 years of the modern railway in the UK, and highlights the enduring connection between people, place and transport.
Josie Rayworth, Community Rail Officer for the 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership, said:
"This project has been an incredible journey of discovery, unearthing powerful stories and cultural connections within our communities. By working with such inspiring groups, we've created an exhibition that truly reflects the richness of our heritage - a fusion of art, storytelling and history that brings this special place to life.
"We are especially grateful to the Miners Rescue Station for their generosity in hosting this project. It is an honour to present the exhibition in such a historic and meaningful community space."
A warm welcome is extended to the community to join us for a unique experience that will involve:
Seeing the Artwork - Exploring stunning pieces created by project participants.
Meeting the Artist - Hearing from Sophia Leadill about the inspiration behind the work.
Listening to Stories - Discovering the voices and memories that shaped the project.
Taking Part in a Free Printing Workshop - Creating your own railway-inspired artwork to take home.
Limited edition railway-themed products, including beautifully designed tote bags, will also be available to purchase with any proceeds supporting the partner organisations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in a celebration of art, history and community. We warmly invite everyone to join us and experience the power of creative collaboration.
The 3 Counties Connected Community Rail Partnership is proud to support initiatives that amplify community voices and celebrate local culture. The Hiraeth Art Project beautifully illustrates how art can unite people by providing a creative platform for communities to share their stories, express their heritage and strengthen their connections.
