Groundwork North Wales is excited to announce the launch of its 2025 Annual Impact Report, showcasing our commitment to positive change for People, Places, and Planet.

Over the past 12 months, Groundwork North Wales has continued to drive forward initiatives that improve the lives of individuals and communities across the region. The report outlines the tangible impact of our work and highlights the importance of collaboration in creating a sustainable and fair future.

We are committed to working with people facing multiple challenges, particularly those in areas lacking social infrastructure and economic opportunities. Through a variety of projects, we have focused on increasing confidence, skills, well-being, and employability, with particular attention to helping those who are out of work progress through learning, volunteering, and employment pathways.

Groundwork North Wales is empowering communities to improve and maintain the places that matter to them through projects which enhance green and blue spaces and heritage sites. These projects make communities greener, healthier, and more resilient to future challenges, helping people come together to make positive changes in their local area.

In partnership with the Welsh Dee Trust, with the support of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, we have worked with the communities along the River Gwenfro to support residents, decision makers and businesses in developing an action plan for the river to support resilience against the future impacts of climate change.

Groundwork North Wales is building capacity amongst individuals to take everyday actions which protect the planet, providing inspiration, guidance, resources and skills for reducing their environmental impact and living more sustainably.

Through initiatives such as our pop-up sustainable events, and the collaborative ‘Lend & Mend’ initiative at Ty Pawb in Wrexham, we have encouraged reuse, repair, and the sharing of resources, reducing the need for people to buy new or send items to landfill.

At the heart of our success is the unwavering dedication of our staff, whose passion, skills, and determination have driven our initiatives forward. Alongside our partners and funders, we are creating real, lasting change in the communities we serve, with an emphasis on collaboration and inclusivity.

Karen Balmer, Group CEO, said:

“Our annual report highlights some of our work over the last 12 months and illustrates the way we strive to achieve positive impacts for people, places and the planet in an integrated and inclusive way. It demonstrates what our committed staff team have the resolve and the skills to deliver, alongside our partners and through our funders, to whom we remain permanently grateful.”
